PlayStation 5 exclusives in 2026

The PS5 is now six years into its home-console run, and 2026 has been a turning point: Sony has made clear that its big first-party narrative single-players are staying on PlayStation again, with no PC version planned. That includes Ghost of Yōtei, Saros, and the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine.

This piece is about the catalog you can only play on PlayStation (PS5 in practice), so you can decide whether the console is worth it for exclusives or whether multiplatform games are enough. You won’t see titles that launch day-and-date on PC or Xbox, even if they’re also on the PS Store.

PlayStation exclusives: no PC, Xbox, or Nintendo version at launch, and for Sony Studios single-players, no PC port announced down the line. So no multiplatform games even if they have a PS5 edition, and no Sony-published titles developed elsewhere (like Death Stranding 2, which does have a confirmed PC release).

We also don’t list the full PS4 library playable on PS5: it’s huge, but it’s not the focus of this guide.

There are smaller or niche exclusives already on sale (Helldivers 2 launched on PS5 and PC, Stellar Blade came to PC later…) that aren’t in the carousel: either they’re not PlayStation-only, or they’re third-party titles with a different release window.

Several older big Sony exclusives (Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, God of War) do have PC versions because they shipped before the policy shift. They’re still PlayStation games, but no longer “console only.”

My take

Buying a PS5 in 2026 isn’t just about graphics anymore: it’s betting on an ecosystem that has closed up again. For a few years Sony ported almost everything to PC; now the big single-players stay on console. If you only play on Steam, Wolverine or Laufey won’t land free in a couple of years: it’s PS5, or wait and see if policy shifts again (no guarantee).

On the upside, the current exclusive catalog has personality. Yōtei and Saros are two sides of the same label (historical adventure vs. sci-fi action), and Astro Bot is still the best interactive DualSense demo. Coming from Xbox or PC, the jump hurts the wallet: new games hover around €80, and PS Plus Extra doesn’t replace a Game Pass with Sony day-one launches.

One more wrinkle: physical has an expiry date on PlayStation. As we noted in Sony says goodbye to the disc, Sony will stop selling new games on disc from 2028. If you collect boxes, Laufey confirms a physical release, but long term the digital store will call the shots.

Is a PS5 worth it for exclusives alone in 2026? It depends. If Yōtei, Saros, or the Marvel/Insomniac universe appeals, there’s a first-party catalog you won’t find elsewhere. If your library is 90% multiplatform and you don’t care about Kratos, Atsu, or Logan, a Series X or a good PC may give you more game per euro. And if you already own a PS5, PS Plus Extra is still the cheapest way to fill gaps with classics from the brand (details in the guide linked above).
